So far, I have five of these design characteristics for informal learning environments which I am pretty happy about. They are:

  1. learning is socioculturally mediated.
  2. learning begins with the motivations, needs, or interests of an individual.
  3. learning occurs across the lifespan, in cumulative experiences.
  4. learning experiences are sporadic and often short-lived.
  5. learning depends on the physical context.

What ones am I missing? Should these be edited/changed?
